Harlandale ISD swears in trustees and elects officers; Cavazos chosen board president

The Harlandale ISD Board of Trustees conducted oath ceremonies for four trustees elected to single-member districts and reorganized the board officers at Wednesday's meeting.
Elected trustees Juan Mancha (Single Member District 1), Erica Salazar (District 2), Luigi Luna (District 3) and Norma Cavazos (District 4) took the oath of office in sequence. The oath was administered publicly as required; trustees recited the standard oath to uphold the U.S. and Texas constitutions.
Following the oath ceremonies the board held nominations for officers. Trustee Norma Cavazos was nominated and elected board president after members voted; the transcript records four affirmative votes for Cavazos. Becky Reese received the vice president nomination and was elected with four affirmative votes recorded. Trustee Erica Salazar was nominated and approved as board secretary during the reorganization; the board agreed to finalize the secretary vote at a subsequent regular meeting to confirm procedural items discussed during the meeting.
