Board approves leadership slate, consent agenda and dozens of donations

The Sartell-St. Stephen School Board conducted several routine actions during its meeting, including electing leadership, approving the consent agenda and accepting multiple community donations.

Nominations were opened for board leadership with candidates Christian Milling and Ben Smith put forward. After asking three times for additional nominations and hearing none, the board carried the leadership motion by voice vote. The record shows the chair called for "all those in favor signify by saying aye," and the chair declared the motion carried; no roll-call tally was recorded in the transcript.

The board then moved and seconded the consent agenda. "Motion by Jen. Second by Emily," the minutes record; the chair called the vote and the motion carried by voice vote.

Later the board considered donations and accepted a long list of community gifts supporting athletics, student programs and scholarships. The board received donations that included a $11,954.86 gift from the Sartell Playmakers Association for boys hockey transportation and video, a $2,400 scholarship award from the Sartell-St. Stephen Education Foundation via Central Minnesota Community Foundation, a $2,000 Maxine Fason and Gary Fason Memorial Arts Scholarship Fund donation, and numerous $100 gifts from local businesses supporting Unified track and field and other programs. A motion to accept donations was made by Emily and seconded by Matt; the motion carried by voice vote.
