Councilman Amir Carr Hernandez introduced item 2.4, a resolution from Mayor Alan Poland to authorize submission of community projects eligible for the 2025 Connecticut Neighborhood Assistance Act tax credit program.
The chair said a public hearing was scheduled for 7 p.m. that evening. Corporate counsel told the committee that the program deadline is July 1 but that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) missed posting a required two-week public notice. Because of the missed notice, counsel said staff will post the notice and that the city may need to hold another special public hearing—potentially on June 11—so the committee can consider the item on June 16 and forward it to the full council for possible June 23 consideration.
The chair called for a motion to postpone the item so the public hearing process can be completed; a motion to postpone was made, seconded and approved. Committee members discussed logistics and agreed staff would announce any special public hearing; one council member volunteered to chair the special hearing. The committee recorded the item as postponed and to be re-noticed to comply with the required public-notice timeline.
No substantive review of the Neighborhood Assistance Act projects took place at this meeting; the postponement was procedural to ensure notice requirements are satisfied before committee action.
