Dr. Stover said press reports described a proposed $4 billion state bond that Governor Cooper (as discussed) has supported; board member research indicated Catawba County’s share could be about $46 million if a $4 billion statewide bond were distributed by relative need. Trustees said capital funding would help address district facility and core-capacity needs identified in recent facilities planning.
A board member moved that Dr. Stover draft a letter or resolution to encourage local representatives to include a bond referendum; the motion was seconded and approved unanimously. Trustees asked that the draft be circulated to board members in advance and placed on the June 9 agenda for final approval.
No specific dollar amount or formal endorsement language was adopted at the meeting; trustees asked staff to prepare a draft for review.
