Commissioners adopt five‑year update to Pamlico Sound regional hazard mitigation plan

The Carteret County Board of Commissioners voted May 19 to adopt the five‑year update to the Pamlico Sound Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan. Hartman said the update included risk assessments, capability assessments, mitigation strategies and a maintenance schedule, and that staff and stakeholders from Beaufort, Craven, Pamlico and Carteret counties, plus municipalities, participated in the regional update. Hartman noted the plan and supporting maps are available online at PamlicoSoundHMP.com for public inspection.
Following a short public-hearing period with no substantive public comment reported in the transcript, a motion to adopt the resolution in support of the updated Pamlico Sound Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan passed by unanimous voice vote.
