Board approves two paraprofessional FTEs, one technology system administrator and Valley Teacher Academy language

The Grain Valley R-V Board of Education voted to authorize two additional paraprofessional full-time equivalents for the 2025–26 school year, to add one technology system administrator position, and to approve agreement language for the Valley Teacher Academy.
Dr. Willie said the district had penciled in funding for four paraprofessional positions in the preliminary budget and presented the first two for board authorization because the district has identified students whose needs will require the additional staff. "We want as we've posted paras already, we just want to know what our options are to be able to fill," she said.
On technology staffing, the board approved creation of a technology system administrator role to manage and troubleshoot the district’s growing portfolio of software systems. Administration explained the budget impact is larger than originally estimated: "instead of just an $18,000 increased impact on the budget, we're gonna say this is more like an $80,000 impact to the budget, but we're gonna have 2 positions instead of 1 person," Dr. Willie said, describing a backfill and role-elevation strategy.
The board also approved language for the Valley Teacher Academy program, which formalizes commitments for high‑school cadets who agree to remain connected with the district during college and gives the district first look at graduates who complete college certification; the district emphasized the agreement does not guarantee employment once college and certification are complete.
Votes on these items were taken by voice; the motions carried and were recorded as passed. The board will incorporate the approved positions into the FY26 budget as the administration finalizes budget adjustments.
