The Garfield Heights Board of Education acknowledged a request from the district’s band director to hold an instrument drive to collect musical instruments for student use, board members said during the special work session Tuesday.
"He wants to do an instrument drive...just permission for him to be able to do that to get more instruments for the school district," said Miss Thomas, Board member, describing the director’s request. Board members did not record a separate formal vote on the request during the session; the item was discussed as part of routine agenda review.
The request was presented as a staff initiative to offset instrument funding shortfalls; no fundraising details, timeline or approval conditions were specified on the record. Board members asked for the wording of agenda items to be updated where needed and moved on to other items.
