PCRS discusses ordinance revisions, past letters and volunteers to draft council communication

So that's what's currently being worked on," staff said, adding that the council calendar is busy during the budget season and dates are not yet firm.
Committee members reviewed the ordinance's history dating to the Charter Commission and Prop 22. One member summarized: "This is something that started with the Charter Commission a few years ago... we are encroaching upon the third year." Members said the subcommittee previously sent two letters about its participation in ordinance discussions and asked staff to circulate those earlier letters and prior ordinance drafts as background for the group.
On next steps the group agreed on two parallel tracks: continue scheduling a workshop or extra meeting to discuss the ordinance and, in the meantime, have a two‑person drafting team prepare a letter or consolidated recommendations for committee review. Joey volunteered to co‑draft the letter and asked for an active collaborator; Rachel volunteered to assist. Committee members with institutional memory — identified as prior PCRS members — were asked to consult on the draft. The staff liaison said previous letters and the prior ordinance could be attached to the next meeting agenda.
The group also agreed it would be useful to review recordings and past materials to capture the history of prior discussions. The subcommittee set a goal of preparing materials and a draft letter for inclusion in its next meeting packet, and to email the council workshop date to members if a firm date is set before the next regular meeting.
