Chase Sixth Boulevard realignment likely delayed to next summer due to reviews and long lead times

Rachel (staff member for the Town of Boonsboro) told Washington County commissioners the Chase Sixth Boulevard and Campus Avenue realignment (referred to in the meeting as T6) is unlikely to be completed this summer and will probably wait until next summer.
Rachel said the Soil Conservation dam-safety review for the project is estimated to finish in September and the traffic signal now has a lead time of up to 12 months. Because the realignment must occur while school is out for safety and logistics, she said the town is likely to stage work for next summer unless permitting and procurement are accelerated.
The town has capital funding approved for the project; Rachel thanked county staff and commissioners for a $520,000 contribution to the work. She said the extended procurement and permitting timeline will allow the town to avoid a rushed request for proposals and to have staging ready so crews can begin as soon as school is out the following year. Rachel said the Board of Education is aware of the schedule implications and that local stakeholders have been coordinating on timing and funding.
No new start date was set; Rachel said she still hopes a summer timeline remains possible but described next summer as the most likely window absent a "miracle." The item remains in active implementation planning rather than construction.
