Sawyer County committee appoints Allison John Jack as agricultural representative to land conservation committee

The Sawyer County Land, Water and Forest Resource Committee voted to approve Allison John Jack as the agricultural representative to the county's Land Conservation Committee on June 1, 2025. The committee's appointment must still be confirmed by the Sawyer County Board.
County staff told the committee the agricultural representative seat had been vacant for more than a year and a half and that Allison John Jack volunteered to serve. Staff noted John Jack's involvement with local cranberry operations and said she also serves as an outreach and education specialist with the University of Wisconsin Extension for cranberry operations.
"She is not here today. She does serve on the advisory committee for the conservation plan update, and she is actively engaged in an agricultural use," a county staff member said when recommending the appointment. Committee members voted in favor without recorded opposition.
County staff said they would provide additional identifying information about John Jack's other affiliations to the county board as part of the appointment package. The committee's action places John Jack as the agricultural representative on the Land Conservation Committee, which is currently acting as the county's Land, Water and Forest Resource Committee for Sawyer County.
The appointment is subject to county board approval; county staff said they will present the committee's recommendation to the board for final confirmation.
