The Carbondale Public Arts Commission on Monday elected Michelle Cook as chair and Lesha as vice chair after a roll-call vote during its regularly scheduled meeting.
The commission first approved the meeting minutes by motion; a member moved to approve and there were no objections, allowing the meeting to proceed to officer nominations. To enable Cook to vote in the chair election, Suzanne renounced her voting membership and became an alternate; Cook then accepted voting membership for the purpose of the election. The commission held a roll-call vote that recorded all members present voting in favor of Cook for chair and in favor of Lesha for vice chair.
The vote was unanimous among members present. After the results were read aloud, commissioners congratulated the newly elected officers and turned to the next items on the agenda.
The leadership changes take effect immediately, per comments during the meeting.
The meeting also included routine administrative announcements, including board-and-commission training scheduled for Monday the 23rd that staff said is mandatory for members.
The commission set its next meeting date for the second of the following month.
