Consent agenda: The board approved the consent agenda, which staff described as including approval of minutes from the May 12, 2025 regular and special meetings and committee meetings; treasurer's reports and bills for May 2025; professional hires (including Joel Jolink, DeWitt High School assistant principal, and Liam Breen, assistant band director); annual approvals such as membership in the Michigan High School Athletic Association for 2025; a property tax levy of 18 mills on operating and 10 mills for debt (as referenced in the budget hearing); tenure recommendations for 15 teachers; and an out-of-state overnight field trip for DeWitt High School to Central Europe for Holocaust history study. The motion carried on voice vote.
Student handbooks: The board adopted the K-12 student handbooks, including the code of conduct, transportation and athletic handbooks and building-level handbooks for Shady Road Elementary, Scott Elementary, Herbison Woods Elementary, DeWitt Middle School and DeWitt High School, and associated release agreements. Motion carried.
Policy readings: The board approved for reading (as presented) several policies recommended by the policy committee: 0131.1 (bylaws and policies), 2340 (field and district-sponsored trips), 5320 (immunization), 5350 (student suicide), and 8320 (personnel files). The motions carried.
