The Ojai City Council accepted a grant award from the Ventura County Transportation Commission (REAP) to improve local transit amenities including shelters, signage and hardscaping at stops, and directed staff to apply the funding to the REAP-approved scope.
During public discussion council members and staff described the grant as focused on physical stop improvements (shelters, signage and hardscape) and not intended for the city's immediate schedule-notification infrastructure. Transit staff said a separate effort is under way to improve the trolley app and explore real-time digital arrival displays; that work will not be funded from this particular grant tranche.
Staff said the city is prioritizing rehiring and training drivers so Sunday service can be restored, and that grant-funded improvements will be coordinated with service changes. The council approved acceptance of the REAP grant by roll call.
