A regional public-health meeting prompted the Hubbardston Board of Health to pursue a candidate to perform housing inspections under town authority.
Sanitarian Nancy reported on a regional public-health meeting and introduced Peter Delorme, a housing inspector who has been working for nearby towns and who may be available to perform housing inspections for Hubbardston. Nancy said MPHN (regional public-health network) has grant money that could cover housing-inspection work. She said she was advised that, if the board engages Delorme, the town should ask him to attend a meeting to introduce himself and that the board should swear him in as a housing inspector if approved by the town so he is accountable to Hubbardston.
Board members agreed to invite Delorme to a future meeting. Nancy also noted that prior local volunteer/responsible official Richard Stevens had stepped back from housing duties in February and that the town currently has one housing complaint that staff will address while the board considers contracting for inspections.
No contract was approved at the June 10 meeting; the next step is to invite Delorme to a meeting and then consider formal appointment and swearing-in if the board concurs.
