Board approves single-sampling landfill monitoring for FY2026; contractor to proceed after July 1

The Hubbardston Board of Health approved moving forward with a single round of landfill monitoring sampling for the 2026 fiscal year and a single mowing of the town landfill, and agreed to sign the contractor’s contract with unchanged pricing for the sampling work.

Sanitarian Nancy said the town budgeted for one landfill test in fiscal year 2026 and one mowing. She reported she had spoken with contractor Mark Poppin, who indicated he could perform sampling after July 1. The board reviewed a revised scope that limited the 2025 contract work to one sampling during the second half of the 2025 calendar year; the contractor kept the same price as previously quoted.

Nancy said some monitoring locations have redundant pipes and that if one monitoring pipe is damaged, the contractor will test the remaining functioning pipe(s) around the perimeter.
