Harrison County supervisors approve consent agenda and multiple purchases, set third claims meeting

The Harrison County Board of Supervisors approved a long consent agenda and multiple individual orders on June 9, 2025, including personnel actions, contract changes, equipment purchases and requests for reimbursement.
Among the items the board approved were personnel changes to the tax assessor’s office and the sheriff’s office; petitions to adjust 2024 real and personal property assessments; execution and recording of a utility easement and a temporary construction easement; and relocation of Precinct 3011 from 25242 Cuevas to 25220 Saint Stephen Terrain.
The board approved change order No. 1 with JD Talley Construction to add erosion-control work identified during construction, resulting in a contract increase of $27,908.80. The board heard that the contract adjustment reflects additional erosion control measures and that the engineers documented approximately 28 rain days since construction started.
Other procurement and purchase approvals included:
- Accepting a low quote from All Day Construction LLC for sidewalk work at Isaiah Frederick's Wall Field ($33,000). - Approving the purchase from Buchanan Solutions America for Canon copiers and related equipment under state contract to replace Canon devices across county departments (total listed $484,919.56 plus a 60-month maintenance agreement). - Authorizing advertisement for bid to move an extra generator from Northwell Market School and install it with a new transfer switch at West Wertle Road. - Approving a Crown Leisure Marine purchase ($8,025) to install a counter-rotating lower unit for a marine vessel. - Approving a $19,130 purchase from American Integration Contractors for additional camera equipment for the AIC trailer.
The board authorized the board president to execute a reimbursement request and other documents related to the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality and approved routine administrative orders including disposal of assets, travel authorizations and waiver of rental fees for Harrison Central High School’s banquet.
The board approved an order authorizing payment up to $40,000 to NIPCO Data to cover land-redemption notices, postage and mailers; the board was told redeemed amounts are returned to the general fund after processing. The board also approved reimbursement of $177.70 to the sheriff’s department and other routine payments.
The board concurred with the county administrator on listed employment items, approved a Southern Mississippi Planning and Development District high-school paid internship program (for students age 16 and older) with backup indicating Gulfport High School as an intended participant, and approved an order described in the agenda as authorizing expenditures to “advertise and bring in” opportunities for Harrison County.
During the meeting the board amended the agenda to add two payment approvals to Gallagher Risk Management: a payment of $256,989.23 and an additional payment of $92.24 to cover e911 storage. Both amendments were approved.
The board voted to set a third meeting in Gulfport to consider claims; the special meeting was scheduled by motion and second.
