County seeks coordination on night road work and asks utility owner to address Cascade mudslide debris

Separately, the county reported a recent mudslide on the Cascade Road corridor. Staff said the slide appears related to a settling pipe or other utility structure owned by the utility company (Xcel Energy was the utility named in discussion). Road & Bridge crews cleared the immediate roadway, but staff asked the board to press the utility to fully remediate the debris field rather than a temporary passable clearing because of downstream flood and drainage concerns.
The board’s action items include circulating the County Road 2 night schedule to law‑enforcement and public channels and directing staff to request that the utility complete permanent remediation at the Cascade site. Staff said they will follow up with the utility and report back.
