At a June 11 special meeting the board unanimously approved the superintendent's recommendation to hire Dwight McKnight as principal of Lucky Ranch Elementary and approved CPS electrical and gas service easements at Medina Valley High School and Creekview High School, respectively.
The Medina Valley ISD Board of Trustees approved three items by unanimous voice vote at a June 11 special meeting: the superintendent's recommendation to hire a new elementary school principal and two utility easements for district high school projects.
The board approved hiring Dwight McKnight as principal of Lucky Ranch Elementary. "Administration recommends Dwight McKnight for the position of principal at Lucky Ranch Elementary School," Superintendent Dr. Kalos said. Trustee Matt Castelloni moved to approve the recommendation; Trustee Joe Biediger seconded. "All board members voted for, and the motion carries," the presiding officer announced.
The board also approved two easements requested by CPS (the district's utility provider). For Medina Valley High School, staff recommended an electrical right‑of‑way easement to allow CPS access to serve the district's planned agricultural/ROTC building. "It is our recommendation to the board to approve the CPS electrical right away easement for the Medina Valley High School AG ROTC building," a district presenter told trustees. Trustee Blaine Nash moved to approve that easement; Trustee Castelloni seconded. The board voted in favor.
Separately, the board approved a CPS gas right‑of‑way easement to serve Creekview High School. A district presenter said the legal metes and bounds had been provided and that there was no cost to the district. Trustee Joe Biediger moved to approve the gas easement; Trustee Castelloni seconded. "All board members vote at 4, and the motion carries," the presiding officer said.
All three approvals were recorded as unanimous among the four trustees present. Absent trustees were identified at the start of the meeting as Mr. Bonnie and Mr. Juarez. No additional conditions or amendments were announced on any of the three items at the time of the vote.
