TSA presents TJPA with gold standard award for transit security

Kelly Eads of TSA Surface Operations told the board the TSA base program is a voluntary assessment of transit security programs and noted that of more than 6,800 transit agencies nationwide, only four received the gold standard last year. "Those that score the highest across the nation receive the gold standard award," Eads said, and she cited TJPA's score and the agency's work with first responders and exercise programs.
Executive Director Adam Van de Water and Facility Director Rodney (Rodney Harris) accepted the award and thanked staff and partners. Van de Water credited agencies from IT and janitorial to SFPD for day-to-day work that supports a safe visitor and rider environment. Board members congratulated the team; Director Chang and others praised the partnership with neighboring community organizations and operators.
