Staff told commissioners the City received extensive feedback during a May workshop and the consultant will provide a Module 1 PowerPoint this week; staff intends to review the module between now and June 30 and meet with the consultant on that date to discuss staff concerns. The staff presentation said the module includes draft ordinance text and that the consultant will present a PowerPoint to the commission and council the week of the proposed early-August joint meeting.
Commissioners asked for an earlier opportunity to receive and review the PowerPoint and draft materials before the joint session. Staff said commissioners would receive the materials in advance, as they did for the prior workshop, and staff will work with council to set a firm date for the joint meeting (staff discussed a window around the week of Aug. 4). A commissioner also pointed out an apparent typographic date in the project timeline; staff acknowledged it was a typo and that the correct year should read 2024.
Kendra Keyes was identified in the meeting packet as the presenter associated with the zoning-ordinance rewrite; staff said they are coordinating with the consultant on module deliveries and scheduling for a joint Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council meeting in August. Staff invited commissioners to submit questions or concerns in advance and indicated they will circulate materials before the joint session.
No formal action was taken on the ordinance rewrite at the June 12 meeting; staff and consultants will return with draft ordinance modules for further review and for discussion at a future joint meeting of the two bodies.
