Mayor announces 31 commission appointments and reappointments

The slate includes appointments across districts and across policy areas: Port of Long Beach Community Grants Advisory Committee, Climate Resilient and Sustainable City Commission, Board of Health and Human Services, Homeless Services Advisory Commission, Commission on Women and Girls, the Veterans Affairs Commission and a new membership slate for the Long Beach Workforce Investment Network board (formerly Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network).
Names announced included Sylvia Salcedo (Airport Advisory Commission), Gabriela Orpiza (Board of Health and Human Services), Holland Brown and Christina Sergi (Climate Resilient and Sustainable City Commission), Liana Noble (Homeless Service Advisory Commission), Hilda Delgado (Port Community Grants Advisory Committee), and several reappointments to long‑standing boards. The mayor described commissioners’ backgrounds — community service, nonprofit leadership, professional experience and neighborhood ties — and the council voted to confirm the slate.
Why it matters: Commission members carry out advisory, oversight and program guidance roles across many city functions; the new cohort will shape advisory work on public health, climate resilience, veterans affairs, ports grants and other city programs.
