The Nassau County Development Review Committee recommended that a driveway-spacing variance application be forwarded to the county engineer for final determination on Tuesday, June 10, following preliminary review by county staff.
The parcel in question lies inside the town limits but fronts a county-maintained roadway, and the applicant said the parcel's small size prevents meeting the county's driveway spacing requirements. Caleb Perch of Development Services introduced the item and noted the spacing issue and the need for a driveway permit tied to the parcel's constrained size.
Representatives from the Building Department, Planning Department, Fire Department and the Health Department told the committee they had no comments on the proposal during the pre-application review. Constance Lake of the Building Department and Elizabeth Back of the Planning Department both registered no comment; Amanda Bauman of the Fire Department likewise had no comments, and the Health Department conveyed no concerns by message.
Because the Development Review Committee is an advisory body, staff recommended — and the committee agreed — to forward a recommendation to the county engineer, who will make the final determination on the driveway permit and any applicable spacing variance.
The committee recorded this recommendation as part of its technical review process and moved on to the next agenda items.
