Dante Hale, Capital Projects project manager, told the board staff intends to expedite a section of the roadway so traffic can access the I‑35 frontage road and alleviate congestion at the new school. Hale said the work would be split into a fast‑tracked phase to open a portion of the road and a second phase to complete the full project; staff estimated overall completion in quarter 2 but said the expedited portion would be tight to finish before the school year begins.
Board members asked staff to clarify dates in the council packet before the item goes to council. Members also noted an apparent typo in a contractor bid tabulation: an Urban Infrastructure bid line on the agenda packet showed a lower number than the tabulation; staff acknowledged that a $900,000 figure was likely a typographical error and the correct figure on the bid tabulation is about $988,000.
A motion to approve the phased approach was made and the board voted unanimously to move the item forward.
