During councilmember comments at the May 27 meeting, members highlighted community events and facilities projects.
Several councilmembers and the mayor congratulated organizers of the recent Memorial Day parade and remarked on the ceremony and speakers. Councilwoman Haggerty and Councilman Shoemaker noted the Rotary Park groundbreaking for a splash pad and accompanying park improvements including two pickleball courts; Councilwoman McCartney and others encouraged attendance at upcoming community events such as RoseFest (scheduled for June 14) and "Under the Lights," a June 5 community kickoff in Erin Commons.
A member of the public, David Bonarito of 28231 Cole Street, thanked the council and reported on a recent Roseville Historical Society event called "Roseville Nostalgia Night," noted a full house at the program, and announced the society's next program on June 17 featuring a speaker on Great Lakes liners.
City Manager Monroe reminded the public that RoseFest will begin June 14 and asked for sponsors and vendors. Council members also noted park improvements at the Detroit Center and other community investment projects.
