Residents of the Oro Valley Country Club Estates addressed council during call to audience on June 4 seeking resolution of a chronic drainage problem at 130 West Oro Valley Drive. Alexis Patterson, president of the homeowners association, said water rises up to 26 inches across the street, rendering the road impassable at times and noting a vehicle was totaled in 2022 or 2023.
Patterson said the town approved a drainage improvement project in 2024 and installed signage but residents had received no recent updates and felt the large sign — on site for about 14 months — discouraged home sales. She urged the council to direct staff to confirm whether the project would proceed and to communicate next steps.
John Petticoone, a long-time resident, said he and neighbors sent the town a detailed letter about five weeks earlier and had not received a response. Petticoone asked staff to follow up; he and other speakers said they sought cooperative action rather than confrontation.
After public comment the mayor instructed Town Manager Wilkins to follow up with Patterson and Petticoone about the drainage matter and report back to council on planned actions. Staff were also asked to coordinate further with Public Works and return an update to council.
