The Select Board on June 2 authorized the town’s treasurer/collector to conduct auctions for three tax-title parcels using Sullivan & Sullivan auctioneers.
Treasurer/Collector Erica Correa told the board she solicited three auctioneers and received the lowest commission proposal from Sullivan & Sullivan (2.75 percent), with the cost to be borne by the buyer rather than the town. Correa said Sullivan & Sullivan estimated roughly five weeks from start to sale for the advertising and auction process.
Correa also said the three parcels (3 Walnut Street, 6 Central Avenue and 4 South Avenue) were taken by the town prior to Nov. 1, 2024, so they are not subject to the new requirement to remit excess proceeds to previous owners under the more recent tax-title guidance.
A motion to authorize the tax collector to proceed with Sullivan & Sullivan as the auctioneer for the listed parcels was made, seconded and approved by roll call. Board members did not set sale reserve prices in the meeting; the tax collector said she had reviewed state guidance and consulted municipal counsel as part of her due diligence.
