Solicitor: Patterson Township zoning decision will determine siting of county hazmat support building; parking-garage contract pending

Beaver County's solicitor said zoning approval from Patterson Township is the next step before the county can move forward with plans to build a new structure adjacent to the existing hazmat building on Route 51.
At the June 4 work session the solicitor reported, “Tonight, there's a meeting in Patterson Township. There's a zoning thing that we would have to work through in order to put this building there. But tonight, there's a meeting at Patterson Township to try to get clearance from the local level as far as zoning purposes for this building. So, we should know more here after tonight's meeting as far as whether we're good to go on Patterson's end to proceed forward with this building.”
Commissioners also asked about the status of a parking-garage contract. The solicitor's office said engineers are preparing contract documents and that staff is waiting on that contract to bring forward as a resolution.
No formal vote or binding decision was recorded in the work session; the items remain contingent on local zoning clearance and completion of contract documents.
