City counsel told the council that the contract had been updated to reflect Crab Orchard’s planned merger into a new department and that “other than those 2 changes, the contract is the same as it was.” Counsel said Crab Orchard has signed the revised contract and the city now needs to sign to complete the agreement.
The contract sets a capacity limit of up to 1,000,000 gallons per day. Council members asked about capacity and renewal terms; counsel confirmed the contract is now a 10-year term with a point to re-evaluate automatic renewal at that time.
Mayor Crawford moved to approve the updated contract “in its form.” A council member seconded the motion. The council approved the measure by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded.
Council discussion was brief and limited to clarifying the term length, the million-gallon capacity, and which party pays for the master meter installation. No dollar amounts or additional technical specifications were stated during the meeting.
The council adjourned the special call meeting and moved into an open work session after the vote.
