Commissioners resolve county roof pay applications and approve final payment for courthouse waterproofing; earlier rooftop contract discrepancy under review

Wagoner County commissioners on May 20 reviewed several ongoing county roof projects, discussed a discrepancy in pay applications, and approved a final payment for courthouse waterproofing after staff confirmed warranties and punch‑list items were received.

A county staff member reported a $40,000 discrepancy that appeared in change orders and pay applications for one roof contract. Staff said they had sent correction notes to the county attorney (referred to in the meeting as Attorney Hendricks) and that the pay application should not be paid until corrections were made. Commissioners discussed whether payments already matched the purchase order and whether any overpayments had occurred; county staff said purchase orders make it impossible to overpay a purchase order and that additional backup would be reviewed. The board withdrew a motion to authorize payment pending review.

On the courthouse waterproofing work, staff reported that waterproofing had been paid in full, that warranties from manufacturers were received, and that punch‑list items had been addressed. After a brief discussion and confirmation of tests and reports on the sheriff’s roof area, the board approved a motion to issue the contractor’s final payment for the waterproofing work.

Commissioners asked staff to add a follow‑up agenda item concerning the sheriff’s roof and related reports so the board could review findings about potential maintenance, hail damage, and warranty coverage. Staff said they expected to receive a report shortly and would place the item on a future agenda.
