Commissioners approve $1,200 door installation for North Annex, direct staff to scope possible commissioners’ boardroom move

Wagoner County commissioners on May 20 approved a $1,200 acquisition and installation for a new door to the North Annex media room and directed staff to develop scope drawings to evaluate converting space in the North Annex for a commissioners’ boardroom or auxiliary meeting room.

Chris Potter, the county maintenance manager, explained that the lowest bidder’s earlier quote lacked detail so the company was asked to provide a more specific scope; the revised quote from Kilometers Davis Installations was $1,200 to “hang new door” with more detailed line items provided to the county. Commissioners asked whether the bidders understood the door type and agreed the selected bidder should be expected to install the specified door.

Commissioner discussion then broadened into configuration and potential re‑use of the North Annex — including making an auxiliary commissioners’ room that could serve for meetings, trainings and executive sessions, and could provide improved public access and restroom flow. Some commissioners expressed concern about cost and whether work should wait for other agenda items; others said that securing the door now and pursuing concept drawings for the room were prudent next steps.

The motion to approve the $1,200 door and to fund it from the county’s use tax/renovation account passed by roll call. Commissioners also approved proceeding with scope drawings for the North Annex reconfiguration and asked staff to return with refined drawings and cost estimates.
