Councilman TJ Clark, committee chair, introduced items 2.2 through 2.5 listing appointments to the Hartford LGBTQ+ Commission. Mayoral appointees introduced themselves to the committee: Joel Hicks Rivera described his Hartford roots and work at the Hartford Foundation; Felipe Sanchez described youth-mentoring and youth-development work and said he is a drag entertainer and works at CREC; Luis Erizarry said he works for Access Health Connecticut's health equity department and has community outreach experience; Joshua Quinones said he is a Hartford small-business owner and artist working to build queer-owned creative businesses in the city.
Councilman Gail moved to send the four appointments—items 2.2, 2.3, 2.4 and 2.5—back to the full council with a favorable recommendation; Clark seconded. The committee approved the motion by voice vote. "This is a very impressive quartet...kudos to all 4 of you for stepping up," Gail said during the meeting.
The committee recorded no formal roll-call voting names in the transcript; the motion passed by voice vote and will appear on the council agenda for confirmation at the next scheduled city council meeting.
