Board approves Infinite Campus student information system; directors seek migration safeguards

The Scranton School District board approved a contract to implement the Infinite Campus student information system on June 2, with a cost listed in the packet of $378,054.30. The purchase is intended to replace multiple district systems and consolidate student information, grading, attendance and other administrative tools.
Administration said the product will replace several legacy tools, including the district’s mass‑notification system (OneCall) and hall‑pass systems, and that Infinite Campus will provide additional seats and support for the special‑education side of the district. Chris Suma (technology and implementation lead) told the board his team has implemented similar student information system conversions in other districts and that the district will begin early preparation and cross‑training this summer to reduce risks.
Several directors expressed concern about data migration based on prior experience in other districts where conversions required manual transcript fixes. Board members asked for a contingency plan in the event of data linkage problems and requested that multiple staff be cross‑trained. Administration said a focused data‑cleanup effort would occur before a planned go‑live window in July 2026 and that Infinite Campus had committed to additional training hours.
On roll call the motion passed 7‑2 (two directors voted no). Administration said it will provide additional documentation about systems that Infinite Campus will replace and will maintain access to legacy data during migration.
