The Scranton School District board approved a multi‑year purchase of the Operations Hero work‑order module on June 2 after extended public comment and follow‑up questions from directors about cost and data access.
The motion as presented covered the work‑order management portion of the Operations Hero platform with implementation and multi‑year subscription costs in the packet. Administration said the motion before the board was limited to the work‑order module and excluded other software components that had appeared in an earlier proposal; the revised motion reduced the previously reported cost. The motion passed on a roll call tally of 6 affirmative and 3 negative votes.
During public comment, Luann Heenahan, president of SEIU Local 32BJ and a building supervisor, urged the board to preserve the district’s Operation Heroes data and said building supervisors and technicians had invested significant time inputting inspection and work‑order data; she said a May 13 vendor Zoom with the company’s CEO and technicians had been made available to the board but none of the board members attended. Several board members acknowledged they had seen the memo and link in the board packet and described questions about which modules and costs were included in earlier proposals.
Board members pressed administration on the vendor list of existing systems, migration risks and how the proposed contract would affect existing tools. Administration acknowledged a multi‑step plan to inventory district systems and to give staff transition time as the district consolidates platforms; the superintendent said the task was more time‑consuming than expected because individual schools use a variety of tools.
Director Fox was among the members who asked for clearer financial documentation; administration agreed to add more detail to future retainer and contract invoices. The motion passed; recorded roll call showed six in favor, three opposed.
