Superintendent Dr. Keating told the board the application proposes purchasing one Evolve Xpress unit and six Evolve Xpedite mobile units, plus three years of prepaid software subscriptions to enhance access control and weapons detection at the district’s three middle schools and two high schools. The grant requires a 25 percent cash match; at the maximum award the district’s match would be $166,666.67. Administration also listed an additional estimated direct district contribution of $7,338, making an estimated total district cost over the grant term of $174,004.67. A fourth‑year software subscription was estimated at $64,428.
Dr. Keating said the district would be transparent about how and where any bag‑scanning equipment would be deployed if the grant is awarded; he noted the district piloted bag scanners at Scranton High School. Director Borthwick confirmed the proposal would place Evolv systems at the ECA Academy and bag scanners that were tested at Scranton High.
The motion to apply carried on a roll call vote recorded as unanimous approval.
