Brandon Ratcliffe addressed the Price City Council during public comment on May 28, saying the council previously agreed to reopen the police department wage budget after the first quarter of the fiscal year but that the city has not acted.
"Very little action has been taken on behalf of the city council to address this issue," Ratcliffe said. He told the council he emailed the mayor and council on Feb. 12 and that the matter was discussed in a Feb. 26 workshop where, he said, "threats of disciplinary action, as well as threats to not allow myself to speak at future city council meetings, came from Mayor Corianas." Ratcliffe said the first fiscal quarter ended in September and that the pledge to revisit wages remains unfulfilled.
Ratcliffe urged the council to "reaffirm your commitment to the Price City Police Department through actions, not words," saying officers and their families had been affected by the delay and by what he described as discouraging comments from council members.
The council did not respond to Ratcliffe's remarks on the record during the public-comment period shown in the transcript and took no immediate action at the meeting on wage negotiations or the requests Ratcliffe raised.
