The system is “a vital piece of our maintenance equipment,” Miles, a city staff member, said. “We use [the camera] for the sewer system where we can inspect the condition of the sewer lines and try to head off problems. Also, we can verify if we have when we have problems if it's a mainline stoppage or if it's lateral stoppage, liability issues that we can face with sewer backups.”
Council Member Willis moved to approve the Project 7C2025 sewer camera replacement; Council Member Miller seconded the motion. The presiding official called for the vote; those present responded "aye," and the motion carried.
City staff told the council the purchase was budgeted. The council did not provide additional detail at the meeting about delivery timelines, installation procedures or ongoing maintenance responsibilities.
The camera system is part of the water and sewer department's regular maintenance program and will be used to inspect lines and help determine responsibility in blockage or backup incidents.
