Health department renewing ADEQ delegation for on-site wastewater/septic inspections

Cochise Health and Social Services requested board approval to continue a delegation agreement with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) that authorizes county staff to review on-site wastewater systems (septic), conduct inspections and handle related complaints.
Environmental Health lead Natalie Johnson and program staff explained the county regained the delegation after a period in which development services handled reviews; the delegation allows county environmental health staff to perform system reviews, inspections and enforcement under ADEQ oversight. Mike McGee, who took over the program when it returned to environmental health, told the board the county has had delegation agreements for decades.
Supervisors had no objections in the work session; staff said the delegation agreement would be presented for approval on the regular meeting agenda.
