The Richmond Department of Public Utilities (DPU) told the Governmental Operations standing committee it had restored production at the city’s water treatment plant and was monitoring state-required compliance samples before lifting a boil-water advisory.
DPU Director Scott Morrison told council members the plant was producing about 60–65 million gallons per day (MGD) and that distribution pressures had recovered to near-normal levels overnight. He said DPU took a compliance sample required by the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) that would finish incubation around 9 p.m.; a second required sample was taken about 16 hours after the first and will require another 24-hour incubation period. Morrison said the city expected an update on whether the advisory could be lifted by Thursday afternoon, depending on those results.
