CalSTRS Reelects Denise Bradford as Chair; Karen Yamamoto Remains Vice Chair

Denise Bradford was reelected chair of the California State Teachers' Retirement System board on a voice vote during the board’s May meeting. The nomination for Bradford was made by Michael Gunning and seconded by Kent Tang; the motion passed after the board called for those in favor to say “aye.”
Kent Tang nominated Karen Yamamoto to continue as vice chair; Michael Gunning seconded that nomination. The board approved Yamamoto’s reelection by unanimous voice vote.
The board followed its regular procedure under Education Code section 22200 to elect officers at the May meeting. After the elections the board moved immediately to other agenda items, including the strategic plan and public comment. Both Bradford and Yamamoto were congratulated by members and acknowledged in the meeting record.
