The Lincoln Board of Education on May 27 adopted a resolution congratulating Amanda Woodward after she was named the 2025 Nebraska SkillsUSA Advisor of the Year.
The resolution, read into the record and moved by a board member, said Woodward “inspires students to pursue their passion in skilled and technical trades” and recognized her statewide and national reputation. The resolution was signed by Board President Bob Browner and interim superintendent of schools John Scruretta and was approved by roll call.
Woodward, who accepted the honor at the board meeting, described SkillsUSA as more than competition: “It’s where career readiness meets leadership, where students learn how to own a mistake, to advocate for themselves, and to lead with integrity.” She told the board her chapter earned a gold Chapter of Excellence award for the first time in over 20 years and that she will take seven students to the national SkillsUSA competition in Atlanta this June.
In her remarks Woodward thanked Lincoln Public Schools staff, her family and industry partners including Duncan Aviation for real-world partnerships that she said expanded students’ opportunities. She also credited students’ persistence: “This year’s success … stands on the shoulders of those students, the students past, the students present, who put in the work.”
The board offered additional verbal thanks and recorded a unanimous roll-call vote in favor of the resolution. No follow-up action was required beyond the formal recognition.
