Development services staff described two initial videos. One, produced for Sober Not to Drive (sic) week, featured a collaboration with the Asheville Tourists baseball team and its mascot and included the mayor in a brief cameo. Another video explains the land development permit process: when a building or site work requires a permit, what the permit looks for and common restrictions.
Staff reported both videos have more than 600 views on Instagram and said they plan to continue the account with more educational content and occasional community collaborations. The staff invited councilmembers to participate in future videos.
Board response was positive; the mayor and council praised the effort and excused the staff representatives from the remainder of the meeting after the presentation.
