Bound Brook recognizes students and educators and earns Master Board Certification

The Bound Brook School District recognized students of the month from district schools and celebrated educators and support staff at the board’s May meeting, also noting the board’s recent Carol E. Larson Master Board Certification.
Superintendent's recognition and students of the month Superintendent Dr. Freeman opened the segment by calling forward students of the month from Lamont Annex, Lafayette, Smalley, Community Middle School and Bound Brook High School. Recipients included kindergarten through 12th-grade students recognized for classroom achievement, citizenship and extracurricular participation. School staff presented brief descriptions of each honoree’s interests and future plans.
Governor’s Educators and service awards Bound Brook presented Governor’s Educator of the Year recognitions for individual buildings and named winners for teacher and educational specialist honors. Honorees included elementary- and district-level teachers and specialists praised for classroom leadership, bilingual support and student services. The high school highlighted Joelle Smith as teacher of the year and Deb Paulson as educational specialist of the year for Bound Brook High School; other building-level honorees were recognized at the meeting.
Master Board Certification and county leadership The board announced that it received the Carol E. Larson Master Board Certification, an award the superintendent said places the board in the top 5% of New Jersey boards. The district also recognized board member Danny Minhas for completing boardmanship certification and congratulated board president Richard Jannuzzi on his selection as president of the Somerset County School Boards Association.
Ceremonial items The recognition items were ceremonial; the board took no policy action during the awards portion of the meeting. Board members took photographs with honorees and trophies and thanked staff and parents for their contributions.
