Zoning commission continues hearing on disputed auto-related site after neighbors allege safety, nuisance issues

At the hearing Ana Sanchez and Linda Ortega testified they see cluttered vehicles and parts stored in public view, reported car painting in a carport rather than a booth, and described chemical odors and vehicles blocking driveways and sidewalks. A voicemail in support from Roberto Noriega said the business helps people with car repairs and urged support. Chair John Bustamante moved to continue the item to the June 3 hearing and required the applicant to submit a site plan, coordinate with staff and contact the Historic West Side Residents Association and specific neighbors in the next two weeks. Commissioner Whitsett seconded the motion; the continuance passed on roll call.
The commission’s continuance is intended to give staff time to review a formal site plan and for the applicant to respond to neighborhood concerns and any outstanding code-enforcement issues before the commission acts again.
