"To discuss with legal counsel representing the agency matters relating to agency enforcement actions or discuss with legal counsel representing the agency litigation or potential litigation ... Emergency rent assistance is our topic. We have 20 minutes estimated," Chair Ty Mentzer said during the meeting agenda review. The board cited the statute governing executive sessions for matters likely to cause an adverse legal or financial consequence if publicly disclosed.
County Manager Leonard Hernandez and staff left the public portion of the meeting while the board met in executive session. The board announced it was out of executive session at 9:41 a.m. and stated that no legislative action followed; the board reported that direction had been given to county counsel. The work session did not include any votes or public discussion of the executive-session content.
The board did not disclose details of the emergency rent assistance discussion in open session, consistent with the statutory exception the commissioners cited. The agenda packet listed the executive session under the commissioner items and estimated a 20-minute duration.
