Sheriff’s annex west door replacement: staff reported the west exterior metal door at the sheriff’s annex is rusted at the bottom and sticking; two spare doors were offered from a previous job and local bids for installation were sought. A local installer bid $2,970 to supply and install a new steel door and frame; staff said it may cost less if reused doors fit, and that they will seek a local installer (Luke Allen identified as a local contractor) for a comparative quote before proceeding. Commissioners agreed staff should solicit quotes and return with a final estimate.
Southeast laydown/stockpile yard (Twelfth & Zurich): Public works described a potential lease arrangement with a landowner who currently has a 12‑acre laydown area used for a transmission project; staff suggested leasing roughly 3 acres as a county stockpile yard for road rock, chips and other materials to reduce long haul to quarries (staff estimated large time/cost savings). The land includes base material and an asphalt frontage, which could provide an all‑weather staging area. Commissioners directed staff to pursue discussions with the landowner and explore multi‑year lease options.
Other items: staff reported asphalt project A2501‑C (APAC) was approved earlier and that county truck procurement adjustments were finalized; the truck cabs and chassis were in Henderson’s possession and a prebuild meeting was scheduled with the vendor.
