Beloit to kick off Climate Action Plan with consultant Pale Blue Dot; kickoff set for June 5

City staff updated the council on May 20 that the city awarded work on a Climate Action Plan to consultant Pale Blue Dot. Staff has gathered organizational and community emissions data to establish baselines and assembled a roughly 35-person team to work with the consultant.
Staff said the public kickoff will be Thursday, June 5 at the Beloit Public Library. The planning process will run over the coming year and include sector-based teams to develop strategies and tactics across transportation and mobility, land and housing, buildings and energy, waste management, water/wastewater, local food and health and safety, green space and economy.
The staff update said the consultant has done similar work across Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois and that the city will share regular updates with council as the work progresses. No council votes were taken on the update.
