Trust fund: 16 projects started, questions about TruVest Bayard Park properties and plans for brochures and outreach

The committee discussed status questions about three properties where the for-profit developer TrueVest received Trust Fund assistance on Bayard Park Drive (referred to in the transcript as both "Bear Park Drive" and "Bayard Park"). Staff reported two of the three properties were completed and the third required additional work after an interior leak damaged finished floors; staff said they recently extended that contract to allow completion. Committee members asked staff to provide property addresses and remaining balances so the committee can track loan paybacks and project status.
Outreach and administrative matters Staff said they updated the 2025 developer application and have heard informal interest from organizations including the JD Sheth Foundation, Hope, ECHO and nonprofit partners. Committee members asked about printing informational brochures for community distribution; staff suggested printing "a few hundred" copies and discussed seeking minor administrative funding to cover commercial printing costs. Members also discussed adding an online waitlist form to replace the current telephone-based sign-up.
Why it matters: progress metrics, developer oversight and better outreach affect the Trust Fund’s reach and the committee’s ability to close out older rounds and accept new applicants.
Next steps Staff will provide a status update on the TrueVest properties (addresses and remaining balances) and will circulate drafts or printed brochures when available. Members suggested continued use of communications staff in the mayor’s office for periodic publicity.
