The Wyndham Raymond School District board approved the first reading on June 4 of a full replacement for the district’s KBF policy on parent involvement in Title I programs.
Policy committee members said the revised policy consolidates Title I requirements from the Every Student Succeeds Act and the Department of Education into clearer district- and school-level responsibilities. Curriculum director Christine Hessler audited district practice against the policy and produced a rubric that breaks out required activities, responsible staff and documentation; she also developed a new academic-support student progress report for literacy and math to accompany the policy.
Committee members told the board the Department of Education can audit Title I compliance and that districts must document family-involvement activities and how those commitments were carried out. The policy committee recommended removing duplicate exhibits and using internal tools and the rubric for evidence and reporting. The board carried the motion for first reading; minor edits (a missing numeric reference) will be corrected before the policy posts to the district website.
