Middle school takes shape; district outlines summer construction and campus projects

District leaders told the Wyndham Raymond School District board on June 4 that construction at the new middle school site is progressing on schedule and that a number of summer projects across the district will begin in mid-June.
Superintendent Joe Howell and facilities staff reported that stair towers and completed footings are visible on site, pours and foundation work are in progress for additional wings, and steel delivery is expected soon. The superintendent said that once steel erection begins, the project’s vertical progress will accelerate.
District facilities staff said paving of the front entrance and new parking approaches was scheduled to occur the next two days, which should reduce dust for nearby neighbors. The district also plans summer work starting June 18 on the primary school cafeteria/gym roof; a portion of the playground will be closed for safety during roofing and scaffolding operations. Raymond Elementary is scheduled to close for summer work, with electrical shutdowns and a generator transfer switch expected to arrive next week to support the contractor’s needs. Manchester work is limited this summer; a parent drop-off loop and a ball field project are planned for next summer.
Facilities leaders said change orders have been minimal in this phase, and organized a summer schedule for contractors: Bill’s team will have about 10 weeks to complete the listed work. The board said staff will prepare a one- to three-page summary of summer projects and likely disruptions for parents and neighbors.
No formal vote was required for the construction update; the presentation served as an informational briefing to the board.
