Isle of Wight Audit Committee approves agenda, April minutes; schedules August meeting

The Isle of Wight County Audit Committee on June 2 approved its meeting agenda and the April meeting minutes, and agreed to skip a July meeting and reconvene Aug. 4.

Chairperson Rountree called the meeting to order and asked for a motion to approve the agenda. “So moved,” said Mr. Grice; the committee then voted in favor. The committee later voted to approve the April 2025 minutes after a brief discussion about carrying an internal-audit topic forward to a future agenda.

Rountree said she expects to have a replacement supervisor named to the audit committee following an executive committee meeting and executive session later in the week and said she had spoken with Mr. Giustefano, who “is planning on accepting . . . a nomination.” She asked members to send questions for Treasurer Schley in advance of the Aug. 4 meeting so Schley can prepare answers and suggested a deadline of the first Monday in July for committee questions.

The chair also said the committee will continue discussion of the county’s internal-audit program in August and asked staff to compile and circulate members’ suggested questions in advance so the treasurer can respond at the August session.

Less formal committee business included reminders about member availability over the summer and a short prayer before the meeting formally proceeded.
